Directions : These questions are based on the following information. Study it carefully to answer the questions.

There are five friends - Shailendra, Keshav, Madhav, Ashish and Rakesh. Shailendra is shorter than Keshav but taller than Rakesh. Madhav is the tallest. Ashish is a little shorter than Keshav and a little taller than Shailendra.

If they stand in the order of increasing heights, who will be the second ?
1) Ashish 2) Shailendra
3) Rakesh 4) Keshav
5)None of these
Answer : Shailendra
Explanation :
Let us denote the friends by the first letter of each name, namely S, K, M, A and R. It is given that Shailendra is shorter than Keshav but taller than Rakesh.
Therefore,  R < S < K.
Ashish is a little shorter than Keshav and a little taller than Shailendra i.e S < A < K.
Madhav is the tallest. From this we get R < S < A < K < M.
So, in the order of increasing heights, Shailendra is the second.

Q15.
Directions : Following questions are based on the information given below. Read the information carefully and then answer the questions that follow :
(i) Seven students P, Q, R, S, T, U and V take a series of tests.
(ii) No two students get similar marks.
(iii) V always scores more than P.
(iv) P always scores more than Q.
(v) Each time either R scores the highest and T gets the least or alternatively S scores                         the highest and U or Q scores the least.

If R gets the most, V should be ranked not lower than

1) Second 2) Third
3) Fourth 4) Fifth
5)None of these
Answer : Fourth
Explanation : From data (iii) we get , V > P and  from data (iv) : P > Q  So, V > P > Q
From data (v) R -  -  -  -  -   T   or    S  -  -  -  -  -  Q/U
Therefore, the sequence may be either I.   R >V >P > Q  >Q/U > U/Q >  T
or R > Q/U > U/Q >V >P > Q  > T
Second sequence may be i.e (II) S > T  > R > U > V > P  > Q
or S > T > U > R > V > P > Q > Q   So,If R gets the most, V should be ranked not lower than fourth.
